Record growth of blood donors at UMHAT Burgas
University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment (UMHAT) Burgas is on the verge of a new historic record in blood donation. Statistics show a steady positive trend, with projections that by the end of 2026, the number of actual donors will reach 10,000.
A single blood donation can save the lives of up to three patients in need of emergency care, surgeries, or treatment for oncological diseases.
Blood donation data:
- 2025: 11,213 applicants, of which 9,812 successfully donated blood after a medical examination.
- 2026 (first 5 months): 4,251 actual donors – an increase of 200 people compared to the same period of the previous year.
Future campaigns
UMHAT Burgas is actively working to attract young people through initiatives such as "You haven't done this," aimed at high school graduates. The goal is to foster a culture of empathy and volunteering among the students in the seaside city.
