Prime minister Rumen Radev will summon Russian ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova for talks. He said on Facebook the reason is a new attack on merchant ships close to Bulgaria's territorial waters.

Last night drones hit two merchant ships off Byala and Krapets, and one of them sank. It is not the first such attack: after strikes on ships in early October Radev convened the Consultative Council for National Security.

The prime minister called the strike absolutely unacceptable. He said the logic points to Russia as the possible culprit.

Radev has told Bulgaria's permanent representatives to NATO and the EU about the incident. He is also due to speak with NATO secretary general Mark Rutte.
