Maintenance and traffic changes on Struma Motorway
One of the main transport arteries of the country — Struma Motorway — will undergo night maintenance, which will temporarily change the traffic organization. The Road Infrastructure Agency (API) announced that tonight, cleaning and refreshing activities will be carried out on the road infrastructure in the "Malo Buchino" tunnel.
Specifically, the work will be focused on the tunnel tube that serves traffic in the direction of Sofia.
To ensure the safe and smooth execution of the activities, traffic on this section will be completely restricted. The measure will take effect at 10:00 PM today and will continue until 6:00 AM on September 4.
During this period, the vehicle flow normally directed towards the capital will be diverted to the opposite tunnel tube, which leads to Pernik. The traffic there will be organized in both directions, and drivers must be extremely careful and comply with the changed situation.
Appeal to drivers for safety
The decision to carry out these activities at night is not accidental. It was made to minimize inconvenience for travelers, as traffic is significantly lighter during these hours. The API emphasizes that regular cleaning of road facilities is essential for maintaining high safety standards and ensuring better visibility for drivers, especially in tunnels where lighting conditions are specific.
In this regard, the road agency appeals to all drivers. They insist that drivers strictly observe the temporary road signs and exercise extreme caution. The API calls for:
- maintaining a safe distance between vehicles
- maintaining a speed appropriate for the conditions
- avoiding risky overtakes
To ensure public awareness, the Road Infrastructure Agency reminds all citizens and transport companies that they can get up-to-date information on the road situation. This can be done both on the official website of the agency and on the 24-hour hotline.
