Forecast for August 5: Sun and a light breeze across the country

NIMH forecasts predominantly sunny weather on August 5, with pleasant conditions for the beach along the coast and a slight risk of afternoon showers in the mountains.

Wednesday, August 5, will bring stable summer weather to Bulgaria – predominantly sunny skies, high temperatures, and minimal risk of precipitation in almost all regions of the country. Along the seashore, conditions remain favorable for the beach, and the breeze will be mostly light to moderate.

Weather in Burgas and the region

In Burgas, a maximum temperature of around 29–31°C is expected, and at night, the thermometers will show around 21–23°C. The probability of precipitation is minimal – around 0%, with the day being sunny with insignificant cloudiness.

The seawater temperature in the Burgas area will be around 26–27°C, which provides very good conditions for swimming. The breeze will blow mainly from the east at a speed of about 6–7 m/s, and may strengthen slightly in the afternoon hours.

The preliminary assessment of conditions for safe swimming in the Burgas region is a green flag – calm sea and low risk for swimmers.

Sofia and the region

In the capital, maximum temperatures of around 27–29°C are expected, and at night – around 15–17°C. The probability of precipitation remains low, without significant showers. The breeze will be light, with a north-northwest direction and speeds of up to 3 m/s.

Eastern and Western Bulgaria

In the eastern regions of the country, maximum temperatures will reach 34–35°C, and in the western ones – between 25–27°C in the higher valleys and slightly warmer in the lowland parts. In both regions, predominantly sunny weather is expected, with insignificant cumulus clouds. The wind regime will remain light to moderate, with an easterly direction predominating in the eastern parts, strengthening to significant in the afternoon, and northwest in the western parts, with the wind in the Danubian Plain being moderate and temporarily strong.

In the mountains

In the higher mountain ranges, temperatures will be significantly lower – at an altitude of about 1200 meters, values of around 22°C are expected, and at 2000 meters – around 15°C. Cumulus cloudiness with short-term thundershowers is expected, most likely in the western mountain regions, where intense storms and hail are possible in some places. The breeze in the mountains will be light to moderate, with an east-southeast direction.

Black Sea coast

Along the entire Black Sea coast, including Varna, Sunny Beach, Sozopol, and Ahtopol, the day will be sunny, with air temperatures between 29 and 31°C. The seawater temperature along the coast will vary between 26 and 27°C, which is very pleasant for swimming. The wind regime will remain light, with an easterly direction, strengthening to moderate in the afternoon. The probability of precipitation is minimal in most coastal zones.

According to preliminary assessments, conditions for safe swimming along the entire Southern Black Sea coast will be marked with a green flag, while in separate sections of the Northern Black Sea coast, due to a stronger breeze in the afternoon, a yellow flag may be introduced as a precautionary measure.
