On August 10, the weather in Bulgaria will be mostly sunny and warm. Cumulus clouds will develop in the afternoon, with brief rain showers and thunderstorms possible only in isolated areas, mainly in the mountainous regions of Southwestern Bulgaria.
Weather in Burgas and the region
In Burgas, a sunny day is expected with a temperature ranging from about 21°C in the morning to 29°C in the afternoon. The probability of precipitation is very low – about 1–5%.
The sea water temperature will be 25–26°C. A moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast, approximately 5–7 m/s, with temporary gusts possible in open areas. The sea state will be around 2–3 degrees Douglas scale.
The preliminary safety assessment for swimming is a yellow flag due to the moderate easterly wind and the possibility of temporary increases in sea state. On guarded beaches, the instructions of the lifeguards must be followed.
Sofia and the region
In Sofia, the day will be mostly sunny, with a minimum temperature of about 17°C and a maximum of about 32°C. The probability of precipitation in the city remains low, but towards the end of the day, cumulus clouds may develop over the mountains around the capital.
A light to moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast, most often around 2–4 m/s. Sea water temperature and swimming flag do not apply to Sofia and the interior regions; in the event of thunderstorms in the mountains, tourists should retreat from open ridges.
Eastern and Western Bulgaria
In Eastern Bulgaria, sunny weather will prevail. Maximum temperatures will be between 30°C and 33°C, and precipitation is unlikely. The wind will be moderate from the east-northeast, and may temporarily strengthen in open parts.
In Western Bulgaria, temperatures will reach between 31°C and 35°C. In the afternoon over the mountainous regions in the southwestern part of the country, there is a small to moderate probability of brief rain and thunderstorms. Sea water temperature and swimming flag do not apply to the interior of the country.
In the mountains
Before noon in the mountains, it will be mostly sunny, but cloudiness will increase later. In isolated places in the massifs of Southwestern Bulgaria, there will be rain and thunder. The temperature at an altitude of about 1200 meters will be approximately 26°C, and at 2000 meters – about 18°C.
The wind will be light to moderate from the east-northeast, with possible stronger gusts around thunderstorm cells. Sea water temperature and swimming flag do not apply; tourism conditions require caution during afternoon weather changes.
Black Sea coast
On the Black Sea coast, it will be sunny. Air temperatures will be between 28°C and 31°C, and the probability of precipitation will remain low. A moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast.
The sea water temperature will be 25–26°C, and the sea state – around 2–3 degrees Douglas scale. The preliminary assessment for swimming is a yellow flag on more exposed beaches due to wind and sea state; in more sheltered places, conditions may allow for a green flag, but the decision is up to the lifeguard teams on site.
