A crew from Primorsko council has cleared a dump in the nature reserve, next to a turn-off by the Ropotamo river. Mayor Ivan Gaykov sent the team after a report of pollution.
Gaykov said fines will be updated and checks on dumping waste in unauthorised places will be stepped up.
Unwanted items and building waste from home repairs and replaced old appliances had been piled up there. The crew took it all away despite the bad weather.
In a social media post, the mayor wrote that home repairs and replacing old appliances are welcome, but "unwanted items and building waste definitely do not belong in nature!"
"We will not let the irresponsible behaviour of a few people make pointless the efforts of everyone who cares about keeping our municipality clean," he added.
The council has special containers for unwanted items and building waste.
