Hotel occupancy in the Burgas region reached 65.4% in July 2026, a decrease of 3.2 percentage points compared to the same period in 2025. The highest activity was observed in 4 and 5-star hotels, where occupancy stood at 77.7%, while 3-star establishments saw 53.7%, and 1 and 2-star properties recorded 44.4%, according to data from the Southeast Territorial Statistical Office.
Despite this, overnight stay revenue in the region reached 176.8 million euro, representing a 7.7% increase compared to July 2025. Higher receipts were reported from both Bulgarian citizens (up 11.3%) and foreign nationals (up 6.3%).
The total number of overnight tourists decreased by 6% compared to the previous year, reaching 575.4 thousand people, despite the growing revenue. This decline is due to a downturn in the sector among both foreigners (down 7.5%) and Bulgarian tourists (down 3.5%). Details show that foreign nationals accounted for 357.4 thousand people, averaging 5.4 nights per stay, with an impressive 79.6% of them choosing 4 and 5-star accommodations. Bulgarian citizens in July 2026 totaled 218 thousand people, with an average of 4.3 nights per stay.
The total number of overnight stays in the region in July amounted to 2,876.6 thousand. However, compared to the previous July, a decline was observed: overnight stays provided by Bulgarian citizens were 939.0 thousand (a 4.7% decrease), while those from foreign nationals were 1,937.6 thousand (a 9.6% decrease).
