On the eve of another meeting of the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov made an unusual gesture by presenting five young heroes from Sungurlare to the cabinet members. Daniel Galabov, Alexander Dimitrov, Viktor Nikolov, Atanas Krastev, and Stanislav Bozhikov were greeted with applause by the government for their selfless help during the severe fire situation in the area.
In these difficult days, with their quiet and modest example in Sungurlare, they came to help in their own way, but it became so visible to everyone and gave such courage to the firefighters, foresters, volunteers, that there was no option but to invite them here and I invited them to express our recognition and gratitude
stated Prime Minister Zhelyazkov to those present.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these young people embody all those citizens who, in these difficult times, demonstrate true human virtue and unpretentious heroism. Their actions, according to Zhelyazkov, serve as an example of unity and empathy, qualities that are often lacking in our daily lives.
I am sure that their dreams paint an extremely optimistic future for Bulgaria
added the Prime Minister, expressing hope for the country's future, inspired by such young people.
Zhelyazkov did not fail to express gratitude to the parents and relatives of the young people for the upbringing and values they have passed on to them.
In a brief statement to the media, the five young men shared their experiences. They recounted how they participated in extinguishing the fire, using sprayers and other improvised means.
This is our hometown, we do it for nature, we must help. We weren't afraid, in such moments we need to be together and united
they stated.
Meanwhile, the situation in Sungurlare remains tense. According to the latest information from the Deputy Director of the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" (GDFSPP) Senior Commissioner Lyubomir Barov, the three fire hotspots have merged into a common front. Forecasts for strengthening winds in the area further complicate the situation and pose new challenges for firefighters.
This act of recognition by the government towards the young volunteers from Sungurlare emphasizes the importance of civic engagement and solidarity in times of crisis. It also serves as an inspiring example for the younger generation and society as a whole, demonstrating that everyone can contribute to the common good, regardless of their age.
