The government's main goal is to curb the rate of rising food prices, rather than to reduce them. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev to journalists in Plovdiv. According to him, the growth rate over the last two months has been minus one percent.
"We hope that this trend of continuous food price increases has been broken," the Prime Minister explained. He clarified that the government has no way of influencing the prices of fuel and other goods, so the focus remains on the food sector. Radev emphasized the need for transparency in price formation so that regulatory bodies can direct their efforts toward unfair traders.
The Prime Minister categorically ruled out the possibility of administrative intervention in the market. "We are not introducing price caps. We are a market economy; we have no intention of taking Bulgaria back to those old times," he added.
In response to a question regarding the stimulation of investment in smaller regions, Rumen Radev pointed out that the governing program provides for tax breaks for small and medium-sized enterprises.
