The government made two key decisions related to reforms that are directly linked to payments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP). Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadjov emphasized that without the implementation of the reforms, the funds under the RRP are at risk.
New Public Transport Act:
- A national transport scheme is being created to unify the schedules of different types of transport.
- A minimum of 3 transport connections per day to each settlement is planned.
- A unified electronic ticket and clearing system are being introduced.
- The adoption of the law is a condition for the fourth payment under the RRP.
Contracts for passenger railway transport:
- Contracts have been concluded for the next 12 years.
- BDZ will service over 75% of the transportation, and Ivkoņi Express will be an operator in certain regions.
- Operators will have limited profit, and the new rolling stock will be used free of charge.
Karadjov assured that there will be no staff cuts at BDZ and that social benefits will be preserved. The decision for the island of St. Kirik and Julita returns the management of the quay wall and the adjacent zone to the State Enterprise "Port Infrastructure".
