"We Continue the Change" (PP) has sent an official letter to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and European Commissioner for Justice Michael McGraph, expressing serious concerns about the procedure for selecting the leadership of the Commission for Combating Corruption (CCC) in Bulgaria. This was announced by the party's press center.

The letter states that the selection process for the CCC leadership is developing in extremely short timeframes, which do not provide sufficient time for nominations and adequate public control. PP expresses concern that this may compromise the selection of a politically neutral and independent governing body of the CCC.

Main problems in the procedure

The party emphasizes two main problems in the procedure:

Kadreva is alleged to have maintained direct hierarchical and professional relationships with two candidates for CCC members until two months ago. Regarding Milova, the party points out that she has held consecutive senior administrative positions in institutions managed by GERB.

PP also expresses concerns about the appointment of Nina Sedefova as a committee member, which occurred during an extraordinary meeting of the SBC, not complying with the requirements of the Bar Act.

Call for action

In light of these issues, PP calls for:

This signal to the European Commission comes after members of parliament from the PP-DB parliamentary group submitted a statement to the Commission for Prevention and Combating Corruption in the National Assembly requesting an investigation into the procedure for selecting Nina Sedefova.

With these actions, "We Continue the Change" seeks to draw the attention of European institutions to the process of forming the leadership of the key anti-corruption body in Bulgaria, insisting on transparency and compliance with legal requirements in this important process for the country.
