Another political scandal shook the ruling circles when the GERB leader Boyko Borissov publicly commented on the detention of Varna's mayor Blagomir Kotsev. The politician described the incident as a "drop of tar" that overshadows an otherwise brilliant week for the Bulgarian state.

In a sharp criticism to the media, Borissov questioned the choice of the specific moment for conducting the procedural actions. "Why exactly today, when all of Europe is congratulating us and we are achieving our greatest success?", the GERB leader rhetorically asked, hinting at suspicious political motives behind the arrest.

According to his version, the actions against Mayor Kotsev could have been carried out at a different time, but they deliberately chose this specific moment to discredit national achievements. Among these successes, Borissov highlighted the credit rating increase and European recognition.

Additionally, the politician commented on the internal political dynamics, emphasizing the instability of the current government. "Peevski supports us because Continue the Change are unpredictable," Borissov stated, hinting at existing tensions between political formations.

He did not miss the opportunity to note internal party contradictions, citing a letter from Minister Bozhanov, who was trying to distance himself from the cabinet. "Before entering the hall, he says he will not be part of the 'Russian train', and then becomes its 'whistle'," the GERB leader commented with a dose of sarcasm.

In conclusion, Borissov predicted that in potential new elections, the result would remain identical. He emphasized that the created coalition government is ready to continue its work, regardless of current political challenges.
