Volunteers cleared plastic and other rubbish from the beach in Pomorie today as part of the international "No Plastic Sea Week" campaign. The Rotary Club of Pomorie organised the clean-up. People of all ages turned out, among them many families with children.
The clean-up began this morning in the area with the fishing boats, between the old pier and the port. Every participant got bags and gloves.

In nearly two hours, the volunteers filled dozens of bags with bottles, scrap metal, plastic packaging and paper. They also found plastic chairs and car tyres on the beach.
The results show that plastic is the most common waste along the coast.
The organisers want less pollution in the sea, and they want people to treat the sea and nature with more care.
A truck from a waste collection company took the bags away.
