A final farewell to Yosif Sarchadzhiev
Bulgarian culture has lost one of its brightest figures. The great actor and director Yosif Sarchadzhiev passed away yesterday, with the news confirmed by his daughter, Ana Sarchadzhieva.
"He wished to be remembered not for his passing, but for his presence in Bulgarian cultural life."
In accordance with his explicit wish, the funeral service was held today in a small, private family circle.
Early years and creative path
- Born in Sofia: May 2, 1945, into the family of the prominent director Prof. Stefan Sarchadzhiev and Anna Fadenhecht.
- Home theater: Yosif's first steps were in the "101 Holes" theater, created together with his brothers Bogdan and Nikolai.
- Film debut: His first role was in the film "Our Land" (1952), directed by his father.
- Theater debut: In 1960, at just 15 years old, he stepped onto the stage of the National Theater in the iconic production of "Cyrano de Bergerac".
Yosif Sarchadzhiev remains in history as a symbol of intellectual depth and dedication to art, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of the audience.
