This morning, on a day that will remain in the memory of many, Elena Murdjeva passed away. At the age of 83, a personality departed whose life was woven from tireless work and dedication to society. A woman who left a lasting mark in the hearts of all who knew her.
The loss is particularly heavy for the members of the Thracian Society "Odrin Epic", whose chairman was Elena Murdjeva. She devoted herself to the cause of preserving the Thracian heritage and contributed to the unification of society. In addition, she left a deep mark as the first public defender in Pomorie.
The name of Elena Murdjeva is inextricably linked to the establishment of friendly relations between Pomorie and Neo Anchialo. There is hardly a person in the city who has not heard of her role as one of the initiators of the National Folklore Thracian Assembly "Gergyovden".
Elena Murdjeva was elected a member of the Executive Committee and secretary of the City Council as early as 1971. Under her leadership and on her initiative, civil rituals were introduced in the city for the first time, and the Ritual Hall, which appeared at that time, became a symbol of modernity. Her work was recognized with the highest recognition from the Union of Thracian Societies in Bulgaria, in recognition of her tireless work in the name of the Thracian cause. The recognition for her contribution reached its peak in 2018, when she was awarded the title "Honorary Citizen of Pomorie".
Mayor Aleksiev expressed his grief and offered condolences to the relatives. "This is a small part of Mrs. Murdjeva's successes and roles. I will always remember her smiling, neat and ready for new beginnings. Even when her eyesight worsened, Mrs. Murdjeva did not miss attending every cultural event and helping with whatever she could. May the memory of this worthy lady be bright!"
The funeral will take place on November 22, 2025, Saturday, at 13:00 in the Cemetery Park - Pomorie.
Pomorie Municipality expresses its condolences to the relatives.
