Foreign minister Velislava Petrova set out Bulgaria's positions on the Black Sea, Ukraine, connectivity, enlargement and the EU's long-term budget framework to ambassadors of EU countries, the foreign ministry press office said.
Petrova met them at the Irish embassy. Ireland currently holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU.
The minister said the EU must be united and take a more active role in diplomacy for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, in close coordination with Ukraine and the US.
Bulgaria supports EU enlargement, Petrova said. She said each candidate country should be judged on its own merits, and its progress should depend on the criteria it has met, the commitments it has made and clear political will for reform.
Prime minister Rumen Radev said earlier that the only sure guarantee of an end to attacks on merchant ships in the Black Sea is a ceasefire in Ukraine and peace talks, BTA recalled.
