MP Delyan Peevski from "DPS – Novo Nachalo", accompanied by colleagues from the parliamentary group, entered the National Assembly building after a sharp verbal conflict with representatives of "Prodalzhavame Promenata".
A BTA reporter witnessed the clash, which erupted in front of the service entrance to the parliament, blocked by MPs from "Prodalzhavame Promenata".
The tension was palpable, and the atmosphere – filled with excitement. Before passing the blocked entrances, Peevski turned to those gathered, stating "I will govern the country with a capital "D"".
Blocking access to parliament
Earlier in the morning, MPs from "Prodalzhavame Promenata" took action, blocking access to the parliament"s service parking lot with their personal vehicles.
The goal, as became clear from a publication on the party"s Facebook page, was to prevent the entry of cars used by the leaders of GERB and "DPS – Novo Nachalo", Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski.
Increased police presence is observed.
Protest action and tension
This action is described by "Prodalzhavame Promenata" as an expression of support for the detained mayor of Varna, Blagoomir Kotsev, and former deputy mayor of Sofia, Nikola Barbutov.
Messages from the Sofia Municipality, received by BTA, confirm that "Prodalzhavame Promenata" received the necessary permission to conduct its protest action.
Despite receiving permission, the action of "Prodalzhavame Promenata" caused serious tensions and blocked access to parliament for several hours before the situation eased.
It is clear that this event will lead to a new stage in political confrontations in the country. Today events call into question the stability of parliamentary procedures and highlight the deep divisions in the Bulgarian political scene.
