Three people lost their lives, and another 18 were injured in road traffic accidents within the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MIA) announced via its official website. The data reveals the grim reality of the roads, where 19 serious accidents with casualties were recorded in the last 24 hours.

The situation in the capital is presented from a different angle, although optimism is also lacking there. 37 minor accidents were recorded in Sofia, plus one serious one. Fortunately, within the described period, there were no fatalities in the capital. One person, however, sustained injuries.

A broader look at the statistics for the current month paints an even more alarming picture. Since the beginning of the month, a total of 79 accidents have been registered, claiming the lives of 12 people and causing injuries to 94 others.

If the scope of the analysis is expanded to the current year, the figures take on enormous proportions. Since the beginning of the year, a colossal 5712 road traffic accidents have been registered. These incidents led to the deaths of 383 people and caused injuries to 7108 others.

The comparison with the same period of the previous year is particularly worrying. Comparing the data for fatalities, an increase of six people is established. This shows that efforts to improve road safety are still not yielding satisfactory results. The need for urgent measures and increased control must be emphasized in order to reduce this worrying trend.
