Over the past 24 hours, 26 accidents have been registered in the country, resulting in two deaths and 32 injuries. Since the beginning of the year, the death toll on the roads has already reached 194.
Current road conditions and weather
The forecast for 16.06.2026 promises sunny weather before noon, followed by cumulus clouds, rain, and thunderstorms in mountainous areas. Maximum temperatures up to 29°.
- Trakia Motorway: Large-scale repairs continue in the districts of Sofia, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora, and Yambol. In many places, traffic is restricted or diverted to one lane.
- Hemus Motorway: Asphalt pavement repairs are underway in the districts of Sofia, Lovech, and Varna. A reversible traffic organization has been introduced in the section at 23-32 km.
- Struma Motorway: Temporary organization at the "Daskalovo" junction to ease traffic.
Restrictions at mountain passes
Most Balkan mountain passes are open, but with restrictions:
- Closed year-round: Vurbitsa, Zlatitsa, and Pamporovo.
- Tonnage restrictions: Aytos (over 12t), Dyulino (over 3.5t), Petrohan (over 12t), Tvarditsa (over 10t), and Shipka (over 12t).
