The first plane with Bulgarian citizens, stranded in Dubai due to the conflict in the Middle East, landed at Varna Airport. There are 180 people on board the plane, who live in Northeastern Bulgaria.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications organized specialized flights by the airlines “GullivAir” and “Bulgaria Air”, as well as the State Aviation Operator, to bring back Bulgarian citizens from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman.
The US and Israeli attack on Iran on Saturday caused a massive disruption of flights in the Middle East. Many countries closed their airspace, and three key airports connecting Europe, Africa and the West with Asia suspended their operations, which led to the blocking or rerouting of hundreds of thousands of passengers.
