The Parliament unanimously adopted with 132 votes "for" a decision prohibiting the Minister of Energy from carrying out actions related to changes in the structure of companies included in the capital of "Bulgarian Energy Holding" (BEH). "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" and "Alliance for Rights and Freedoms" did not participate in the vote.

With the adopted decision, the National Assembly assigns the Minister of Energy, in his capacity as the body exercising the rights of the state as the sole owner of BEH, not to take actions to change the holding and capital structure of the company, including through separation, merger, division, sale of shares or stocks, contributions in kind and other forms of disposal.

Earlier today, the draft decision was considered and unanimously adopted at an extraordinary meeting of the Energy Committee in the National Assembly. Its proposers are MPs from GERB-SDS, "Revival", "DPS-New Beginning", "BSP-United Left", "There Is Such a People", "Morality, Unity, Honor" and "Greatness".

The reasoning for the proposal states that state-owned energy companies of the holding type concentrate significant assets and perform functions of essential importance for national security, energy independence and the sustainable development of the economy. Any change in the holding structure has long-term consequences regarding the management of public resources and the obligations of the state to citizens and businesses.
