Key changes in the anti-corruption law
The National Assembly is preparing for a key vote on the bill for the creation of an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The item is expected to be included in the agenda of today's plenary session.
"On Friday, important bills will be reviewed in the plenary hall – for the Anti-Corruption Commission and for water," stated Stoyu Stoev ("We Continue the Change").
New structure and requirements
According to the texts adopted by the legal committee, the ACC will consist of five members appointed by various institutions:
- The National Assembly
- The President
- The Supreme Court of Cassation
- The Supreme Administrative Court
- The Supreme Bar Council
Regulatory changes
Among the main highlights of the new law are:
- Reducing the deadlines for appealing decisions on the selection of members from 7 to 3 days.
- Introducing an age limit: candidates must be able to complete their 5-year term before reaching the age of 65.
In addition to legislative activity, regular parliamentary control is also scheduled for today, during which deputy prime ministers and ministers will answer questions from members of parliament.
