The national approach to determining the minimum wage in Bulgaria may undergo a shift through a new mechanism, which will be considered by Parliament in an extraordinary first reading. The proposed amendment to the Labor Code aims to introduce a clearer method for determining the country's minimum remuneration.

According to the government, these changes are linked to the requirements of the European Directive 2022/2041 on adequate minimum wages. The new regulation is designed to ensure fair pay and to account for income developments in Bulgaria.

The new minimum wage determination rules will affect income levels for workers throughout Burgas and the region.

Currently, the minimum wage in Bulgaria is 1213 leva (620,20 euro).
