Democratic Bulgaria (DB) has asked the Constitutional Court to declare changes to the Farmers' Support Act unconstitutional, its press office said. The row is over money from the so-called "white spots", which now goes to a new fund for farmers.
The state collects this money from the use of farmland and must pay it to the owners.
Parliament passed the changes at second reading on 17 September. The same changes also amend the Ownership and Use of Agricultural Land Act. On 25 September, DB said it was preparing the request.
DB says the disputed rules go against the rule of law and against the guarantees of the right to property and the inviolability of private property. The party says MPs ignored the case law of the European Court of Human Rights on the issue when they passed them.
"150 million euros have been forcibly taken from the property of Bulgarian citizens and sent to a newly created fund to support farmers," said DB MP Svilen Trifonov.
He added that during the debate DB sharply attacked the actions of the ruling majority, which the party says is "Progressive Bulgaria", and that "not one of our arguments was taken into account".
