MPs are due to hold a final vote today on compulsory seasonal third-party liability insurance for motorcycles, campers and some other vehicles. Drivers will be able to buy a policy for less than a year, but for no fewer than 30 days.
This report follows our earlier story on seasonal third-party liability insurance for motorcycles, in which we wrote that parliament's committee on economic policy, investment and industry had approved the changes for second reading.
The amendments to the Insurance Code cover motorcycles, campers, camping trailers and vehicles with temporary and transit registration. Insurers will have to offer policies of under a year as soon as the changes are published in the State Gazette.
MPs will also vote on a draft decision to update the investment spending plan for buying surface-to-air missile systems. The Council of Ministers says the aim is to give the Air Force stronger air defence capability, in line with the security environment.
The government proposes changing the contract so that it also covers buying unmanned aerial systems. Bulgaria will work to set up a logistics centre near the Shabla anti-aircraft range, where the systems would be maintained and repaired.
The agenda also includes a final vote on amendments to the Law on Weapons, Ammunition, Explosives and Pyrotechnic Articles.
Parliament will also debate changes to the Law on the Technical Requirements for Products at first reading. The changes put into effect recommendations of an EU directive. They set out how to act in emergencies on the single market and how to make sure there are enough goods of particular importance in a crisis. A second reading will follow.
