Georgi Benkovski Primary School in Burgas received national recognition for its professionalism and contribution to the development of education in the country, the Association of Cambridge Schools in Bulgaria announced.

They specify that the school won first place in the “Eco Project of the Year” category in the Association's Annual Education Awards with the “Eco Innovators in STEM” project, which encourages students to develop interactive solutions related to environmental protection. The school was also ranked in a top place in the “School of the Year” category, where it received a second prize.

“We are extremely happy to see how knowledge goes beyond traditional frameworks and has a positive effect not only on the development of students, but also on society as a whole. We congratulate the teachers from Georgi Benkovski Primary School in Burgas for the creative approach, the work and the energy with which they continue to implement their project,” commented Vladimir Kolev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, quoted in the announcement.

The Annual Education Awards of the Association of Cambridge Schools distinguish good practices and successful examples in seven categories, including “Teacher of the Year”, “Director of the Year”, “Language Center of the Year” and “STEM Project of the Year”. The applications this year were evaluated by a jury, which included journalist Georgi Milkov, the deputy director of the First English Language High School Nadezhda Nikolcheva, the executive director of the “Together in Class” Foundation Trayan Trayanov, and journalist and producer Georgi Toshev.

The winners of the initiative were announced and awarded for their significant contribution to the development of students and the school community during a solemn ceremony in Starosel, which turned into a celebration of knowledge, successes, inspiration and the dedication of Bulgarian teachers, the Association of Cambridge Schools in Bulgaria points out.

The Association was created by the publishing house “Klett Bulgaria” Ltd., a representative of Cambridge University Press, as a voluntary union of schools striving for a higher level of foreign language teaching. The Association is the organizer of the largest English language competition Kangaroo Global linguistics, with over 100,000 students having participated in it so far. 212 of the best schools in the country are members of the Association, which is an example of extremely successful cooperation between a university publishing house and a school association.
