The academic community of the Burgas Free University has announced the passing of Prof. Dr. Vasil Yankov. He was a key figure in the university's history, serving as a long-standing member of the Board of Trustees and "Honorary Rector of BFU".
Regarding this loss, the Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, shared the following words: "Prof. Dr. Vasil Yankov leaves a lasting mark on higher education in Burgas and the academic community of Bulgaria. A brilliant figure, a true pillar in the development and establishment of the Burgas Free University. A man of dignity and honor. Deepest bows to his memory!".
The funeral service for Prof. Yankov will be held on Friday, September 4. Those who wish to pay their final respects to the professor may do so from 11:00 a.m. at the ritual hall located on the grounds of the Burgas Cemetery Park.
