A total of 199,155 insured persons transferred funds from their individual accounts to other pension funds during the first half of 2026. The total amount transferred reached 638.2 million euros, representing an increase of approximately 24% compared to the same period last year. According to data from the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC), based on media calculations, this is an increase from the 188,161 persons who made changes during the previous year.
By comparison, during the first six months of 2025, the transferred amounts totaled 1.009 billion leva (approximately 516 million euros). Thus, the current result is approximately 122 million euros higher than the figures for the same period last year. The structure of the funds transferred during the first half of 2026 is distributed as follows:
- 599.8 million euros in universal funds;
- 36.6 million euros in professional funds;
- 1.735 million euros in voluntary funds.
Regarding the distribution of the transferred amounts relative to the average net assets of the funds, the shares are 4.17% for universal funds, 3.50% for professional funds, and 0.20% for voluntary pension funds. In terms of the number of individuals relative to the average number of insured persons in universal funds, the relative share of those who changed their participation is 4.48%, while for professional funds it is 3.50%, and for voluntary funds it is 0.09%.
Second Quarter of 2026
During the second quarter of 2026, 106,065 insured persons changed their participation in supplementary pension insurance funds. They accounted for a portion of the total 147,057 applications for change of participation and fund transfers received by pension insurance companies during this period. A comparison with the first quarter of the year, when the number of persons was 93,090, shows an increase of 12,975 people, or 13.94%.

The total amount of funds transferred during the second quarter of 2026 amounts to 350 million euros, representing a 21.46% increase (or 61.8 million euros) compared to the first quarter. Within this 350 million euros, 328.9 million euros were allocated to universal funds, 19.9 million euros to professional funds, and 1.149 million euros to voluntary funds. On average, 3,300.34 euros were transferred per insured person who changed their participation during the second quarter of 2026.
