Dramatic case near Burgas: Torched trailer and endangered human life
The District Court in Burgas has imposed the most severe custodial measure – "detention in custody" – on a man accused of drug possession with intent to distribute and intentional arson.
The court determined that the accused was willing to sacrifice a human life in order to avoid criminal liability.
The incident occurred on May 27 in the "Bademite" area near the Burgas neighborhood of "Cherno More". During a search of a trailer used by the accused, V.S., over 10 kilograms of cannabis and other narcotic substances were discovered.
Criminal liability
For the crime he is charged with, the law provides for:
- Imprisonment from 5 to 15 years.
- A fine in the amount of 20,000 to 100,000 euros.
The fight against drug distribution
The District Prosecutor of Burgas, Georgi Chinev, stated categorically that the institutions will increase the intensity of their operations. The case is part of a large-scale campaign, which also includes the recent seizure of 250 kg of marijuana in the village of Zimnitsa.
