A large-scale fire engulfed forest and vineyard areas in the Sungurlare municipality, with rescue teams taking comprehensive actions to control the disaster. According to official information from the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection", more than 20 specialized fire trucks have been mobilized at the moment.
Senior Commissioner Lyubomir Barov told journalists that three planes and one helicopter will be involved in the operation for more effective extinguishing of the spreading flames. The main fire centers are located in a hard-to-reach forest area between the villages of Skala and Beronovo, which requires a specific approach to firefighting activities.
Rescue teams are working extremely intensively, having undertaken manual extinguishing due to the complex terrain. Volunteers are distributed in mixed groups, and employees from local forestry services have also joined them. Commissioner Nikolay Nikolaev from the Regional Fire Safety Service in Burgas confirmed that last night's evacuation of local residents was organized.
At present, the fire is developing on three separate fronts, affecting over 15,000 decares of mixed forests and vineyard areas. Local agricultural producers are participating with their own equipment in the fight against the fire element. Despite the scale of the disaster, authorities have managed to prevent a direct threat to populated areas.
Eyewitnesses from the village of Skala describe extremely dramatic moments from the past night. Yordan, a local resident, shared: "We don't remember such a fire. It was very scary and we couldn't sleep." The damages are significant - several buildings have burned completely, and yards are totally devastated.
The rescue operation continues at full force, with the main goal being complete control of the fire and prevention of its further spread.
