A group of municipal councilors from the Municipal Council in Pomorie submitted an official signal to the Municipal Election Commission (OIK) and the local administration, urging for legal actions to be taken following a final conviction against the mayor of the village of Bata.

This was announced in a letter to the media by the signatories of the signal from the local coalition "Agricultural People's Union" - Pomorie. It is stated there that with decision No. 570 of December 19, 2025, the Supreme Court of Cassation confirmed a sentence for a common crime – vote buying by the village mayor, imposing a sentence of "deprivation of liberty" for a term of ten months with a three-year probation period.

According to the Law on Local Self-Government and Local Administration, a final sentence for an intentional common crime leads to the automatic termination of the mayor's powers. The law obliges the Municipal Election Commission to announce the termination within three days and to take action to organize partial elections for mayor.

The municipal councilors express concern that more than a month after the final court decision, there is no public information about the actions taken by the administration and the OIK. They emphasize that the delay may violate the legal deadlines and limit the political rights of the residents of the village of Bata.

In the submitted signal, they demand that the OIK – Pomorie be officially notified of the final court decision, that the termination of the powers of the mayor of the village of Bata be announced, and that a procedure for organizing and holding partial elections for mayor be started.

The signal is signed by municipal councilors Bozhidar Yanushev, Veselin Anestiev, Iva Kuseva, Milen Manolov, Nayden Pulakev, Nikolai Bukovinov, and Hristo Hristov.
