Burgas Municipal Council: Carols Greetings, Decisions on Sport, Waste, and Sustainable Development

At the final meeting of the year, the Burgas Municipal Council approved important decisions, including funding for a sports complex, waste treatment, participation in an international smart cities network, and the purchase of electric vehicles.

The last regular session of the Municipal Council - Burgas for this year began with a children's caroling greeting. The agenda includes 43 items, ten of which are questions from municipal councilors. Before the opening of the session, the Report from the manager of “Blagoustroystveni stroezhi“ EOOD regarding renting for a period of 10 years of an object, property of the company, was removed from the agenda. Six new reports were additionally included, and the adoption of the agenda passed without objections. 

The councilors approved the allocation of funds for self-financing of the Municipality of Burgas for the implementation of a project for additional equipment of the “Slaveykov“ sports complex. The report submitted by the Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov for carrying out activities for anaerobic treatment of biodegradable waste formed on the territory of the municipalities of Burgas, Nessebar, Pomorie through the Municipal Enterprise “Chistota Eco“ was also adopted. The report on the expenses for the activities of collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of waste in landfills or other facilities and maintaining the cleanliness of public areas in 2025, and approval of the Budget Plan for 2026 were also adopted by the municipal councilors in Burgas. 

Today, a nominal list of transitional objects from the calculation for capital expenditures and approval of funds for advance financing of payments for projects with temporary interest-free loans from the budget of the Municipality of Burgas and secondary, ordering parties for 2025 was also adopted. Approval was also received for the proposal to join the Municipality of Burgas to the international network “Organization of Open and Flexible Smart Cities“ and approving the city's participation in initiatives for sustainable and intelligent transformation. 

The municipal councilors also agreed to the participation of the Municipality of Burgas as a beneficiary in the project “Purchase of electric vehicles, including related charging stations for the provision of social services“ under a procedure through direct provision of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. A proposal was also adopted for the installation of charging stations at “ESO CHARGE“ EAD in the Northern Industrial Zone. The councilors also voted on several reports for changes to urban plans and street regulation plans in municipal properties.
