A New Horizon for Tourism in Nessebar: Presentation of the Regional Plan under the TOURAL Project
On May 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the congress hall of the Artium Center, the Municipality of Nessebar will host the First Training Seminar under the European project TOURAL. The initiative is funded by the Horizon Europe program and aims at the sustainable development of tourism through an innovative model.
The TOURAL project focuses its efforts on overcoming seasonality, turning Nessebar into a destination with an active season of up to 9 months.
Main highlights of the Regional Action Plan:
- UCCST model: Balanced growth between the urban UNESCO area and rural areas.
- Specialized niches: Development of Underwater Cultural Heritage Tourism (UCNHT), Cultural and Creative Tourism (CCT), Cultural and Scientific Tourism (CST), and Silver Tourism (SLT).
- Knowledge and Access Center (KAC): Integration of an innovative center into the Tourist Information Center in the Old Town.
- Expanding the scope: Directing the tourist flow towards the interior of the region, including the "Natura 2000" zones and Cape Emine.
The seminar is organized in partnership with the Balkan Heritage Foundation and the Burgas Regional Tourism Association, as part of a large-scale collaboration between 20 partners from eight countries.
