Burgas Municipality has won a special award for creating a favorable investment climate and the successful implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects during the annual "Construction Site of the Black Sea" competition. The event is organized by the Chamber of Builders in Bulgaria and "Stroitel" newspaper, with this year's host being Primorsko Municipality.
The municipality demonstrated exceptional performance with 11 award-winning placements, distributed across nearly all 18 competition categories. One of the most significant achievements was in the "Health and Social Infrastructure" category, where Burgas Municipality swept all three award positions. The first place went to the "St. Anastasia" Children's Hospital, the second to the new wing of the Lung Hospital, and the third to the elderly care home currently under construction in the "Vetren" district.
The municipality also showed strong results in the fields of education and sports. In the "Educational Infrastructure" category, Burgas Municipality secured both first and second place: the first for the new wing of the Mathematics High School and the High School of Romance Languages, while the second was awarded to the new wing of the "Alen Mak" kindergarten in the "Sarafovo" district. Additionally, the renovations of the "Mladost" sports hall and the dormitory for the Sports School were awarded first place in categories focused on energy efficiency in sports and educational infrastructure.
Development of the technical and urban environment was also heavily represented. First place in the "Technical Infrastructure" category was won by the new streets and technical infrastructure from Phase 2 of the Burgas Industrial Park. In the same category, the second carriageway of "Nikola Petkov" Blvd. and the roundabout intersection with "Dimitar Dimov" Blvd. placed third. For the new bike path toward the "Kraymorie" district, the municipality received third place in the "Sports Infrastructure and Urban Environment" category.
Other notable successes include:
- Second place in the "Residential Buildings" category for the medical staff accommodation block built in the "Izgrev" residential complex.
The awards were officially presented to the Chief Architect of Burgas Municipality, Tihomir Raychev, and the Deputy Mayor for Construction of Burgas Municipality, Eng. Chanka Koralska.
