A Turbulent Summer and a Critical Need: Burgas Municipality Provides Vital Equipment for the Busiest Fire Departments.
Burgas Municipality Reinforces Fire Services
BURGAS – In response to an exceptionally busy summer and a series of devastating fires, the Municipality of Burgas has taken decisive action to reinforce the capacity of local fire services. With a unanimous vote that left no room for debate, the Municipal Council adopted Mayor Dimitar Nikolov"s proposal for the urgent delivery of "D" type fire hoses for the needs of the two district services in the city.
The vote came against a backdrop of alarming statistics. The two fire departments in Burgas are among the busiest in the entire country, with firefighters responding to no fewer than 15 fires within the municipality this summer alone. Some of these incidents caused serious material damage, leaving destruction in their wake.
Some of the most severe incidents that tested the strength of the firefighters occurred in the summer cottage zone of "Ostritsa" and in the one in the town of Bulgarovo. The fires there raged with such force that they engulfed dozens of houses, turning them to ash. In the course of these dramatic events and in the battle against the fiery element, a large part of the "D" type fire hoses, with which the vehicles of the on-duty teams are equipped, were partially or completely destroyed.
These specialized hoses are of critical importance, especially when dealing with forest and field fires, which are typical for the region during the summer months. According to local authorities, the Regional Fire Safety Directorate currently does not have a sufficient quantity of this type of equipment to fully meet the needs of the on-duty teams in the municipality of Burgas. The lack of a sufficient number of hoses poses a serious risk to the effectiveness of actions during subsequent incidents.
To fill this critical deficit, the Municipality will purchase a total of 100 "D" type fire hoses. The specifications of the new equipment are precisely defined:
- diameter 25 mm
- length 20 m
- working pressure of 15 bar
This decision aims not only to replace the lost equipment but also to ensure that Burgas firefighters will have all the necessary means to protect citizens and their property in one of the country"s hottest regions.
