Currently, there is no information about Bulgarian citizens killed or injured in the incident at a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans Montana. This was announced to BTA by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
The Swiss authorities are not providing additional details, the ministry said, adding that the State Council of the Canton of Valais has declared a state of emergency.
The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bern is in contact with the local authorities, is monitoring the situation, and is ready to provide assistance, the MFA also reported.
The explosion occurred around 01:30 local time, reported Agence France-Presse and Reuters, citing a police statement. According to the authorities, there are about 100 injured, most of them seriously. The police announced that many people are receiving medical assistance for burns. Some of the victims are foreigners.
The caretaker Prime Minister, Rosen Zhelyazkov, expressed condolences for the loss of life in the explosion in the Swiss ski resort.
