Judge Andrey Georgiev and Prosecutor Georgi Balkov become Deputy Ministers of Justice. Learn more about their experience and professional background.

Judge Andrey Georgiev and Prosecutor Georgi Balkov have been appointed as Deputy Ministers of Justice by order of the caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov. They will work in the team of the caretaker Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov, the press center of the Ministry of Justice announced.

Andrey Georgiev has a master's degree in law from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He has international experience, including participation in the "ERASMUS" program and an internship in the USA. Georgiev has been a junior judge at the Sofia City Court and the Sofia Regional Court. From May 2022 to February 2023, he was seconded to the registry of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. He has taught as an adjunct assistant at Sofia University and NBU. He speaks English, German, and Italian.

Georgi Balkov also has a master's degree in law from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He has experience as a legal advisor at the "Customs" Agency. He has been a junior prosecutor and prosecutor at the District Prosecutor's Office - Pleven and the District Prosecutor's Office - Pernik. He speaks English and German.

On February 19, the caretaker government with Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov took office.
