From today, the Entry/Exit System in the European Union begins to function in our country. It will operate at 9 border crossing points on our borders with Turkey, Serbia and North Macedonia.
The European system will record the data of citizens of non-European Union countries who are traveling for the purpose of a short stay, when crossing the external borders of the member states.
During the checks, biographical information and the taking of biometric data will be collected from persons who want to pass through the relevant border crossing point.
The aim is to help prevent illegal immigration and increase security in the Schengen area.
