Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) are preparing a surprise for all travelers planning their summer holidays along the Black Sea coast. From the upcoming summer season, an additional night train will be introduced on the Sofia – Karlovo – Kazanlak – Sliven – Varna route and back.
More travel opportunities to the seaside
The new service is strategically important for improving transport connectivity along the Sub-Balkan railway line. The goal is to ensure easier and more convenient access from the capital and the interior of the country to the Black Sea coast, while simultaneously expanding night transport options.
What does the new train composition include?
The train will be designed to meet the needs of both short-term and longer journeys:
- Seating carriages: For passengers seeking a more budget-friendly travel option;
- Sleeping cars: For maximum comfort during the night transit;
- Direct sleeping car to Dobrich: A special service that will connect the northern region to the rail network via coupling at Poveliano station.
Schedule of the new trains No. 3637 and No. 3636
Travel begins at the end of April, preparing the railways for the peak season:
- From Sofia to Varna (Train No. 3637): Departs from Sofia Central Station at 23:30. Arrival in Varna is at 07:25.
- Connection to Dobrich: The sleeping car will reach Dobrich at 08:41 after being coupled to another train at Poveliano station.
- Return direction (Train No. 3636): The first service is on May 1st. Departs from Varna at 21:40, while the direct car from Dobrich departs at 20:35, arriving in Sofia at 06:07.
