NSI to pay out additional sums to pensions for April 2026 (information that every pensioner should know)

The National Social Security Institute (NSI) will pay out "Easter supplements" to the pensions of over 1.6 million pensioners in April 2026, based on a decision by the Council of Ministers. The supplements will be between 20 and 50 euros, depending on the size of the pension.

The National Social Security Institute (NSI) will pay an additional sum to the pensions of over 1.6 million pensioners along with the pensions for April 2026. This is a result of a decision of the Council of Ministers from March 11, 2026, which provides for the allocation of “Easter supplements” for the most vulnerable groups of pensioners.

Who will receive supplements?

Pensioners whose pension or the sum of pensions, supplements and compensations to them is up to 390.63 euros inclusive (equal to the poverty line for this year) will receive an additional 50 euros.

Pensioners whose pension or the sum of pensions, supplements and compensations to them is from 390.64 euros to 620.20 euros inclusive (up to the amount of the minimum wage for the current year) will receive 20 euros.

Funding

The necessary funds for the payment of the supplements are 57,800,000 euros. They will be transferred from the state budget to the budget of the state social security (SSS).

Preparation

In mid-February 2026, the National Social Security Institute provided financial calculations to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, on the basis of which different options for supporting pensioners for the Easter holidays were prepared.

Total number of pensioners

According to the latest data, the total number of pensioners who are paid pensions from the SSS is 2,070,258.
