From the beginning of 2026, the electronic portal of the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) will become a single point for providing administrative and reference services for cash benefits, assistance, pensions, and guaranteed claims via the internet.

All existing separate electronic services are already integrated into the portal. By the end of the year, they will be gradually removed from operation as independently functioning applications.

This week, some of the inquiries by EGN (Unified Civil Number) and Personal Identification Code (PIC) of the NSSI and those with BULSTAT and Identification Code of the Insurer (ICO) of the NSSI will be removed from the online list. This will first happen with the inquiries for social security and the inquiries from the Electronic Register of sick leave certificates.

At a later stage, the inquiries from the group “In Service of the Pensioner” and those for unemployment cash benefits will be removed. The last ones to be deactivated will be the inquiries for paid cash benefits and assistance (for sick leave certificates and maternity).

The Unified Portal for Electronic Services (UPES) consolidates all existing platforms and web applications in the institute. It provides access to the Electronic Insurance File. Only authentication is required through any of the available means for electronic identification – PIC of the NSSI, PIC of the NRA (National Revenue Agency) and all types of QES (Qualified Electronic Signature).

The portal allows for the application of electronic services by users in different capacities, organized in the Catalogue of NSSI services. Authentication and a one-time entry of an email address for contact when performing the service are required.

UPES also allows access to portals for data submission by obligated persons.

The usability of the electronic services of the NSSI has increased by over 15% in 2024.
