A disaster that will remain in the history of the region. Such is the state of affairs in Nessebar, according to the words of the Regional Governor of Burgas, Vladimir Krumov, conveyed to journalists in the Elenite villa complex. The picture that is revealed is dramatic, as the natural disaster has exceeded all expectations.

The office of the Regional Governor recounts a tense situation from the very beginning. As early as Tuesday, instructions were received from the Council of Ministers, directly from the Prime Minister, which were immediately passed on to the local authorities. This is the first reaction taken with the aim of protecting the population.

"We have warned all mayors of municipalities, mayors of villages, and municipal representatives to go around their settlements, to see if the riverbeds have been cleared, if there are accumulations of waste. If there are people who live on the ground floors, they should be warned to move up high and spend the night there," Krumov emphasizes.

This morning, everywhere in the affected areas, the BG-Alert system has been activated. Initially, the signal sounded in the Tsarevo municipality, and then - several times in the Nessebar municipality. The echo of the sirens, however, can hardly be compared with the force of the disaster itself.

"Unfortunately, the disaster is very large, unseen before in this territory. We have a memory – two years ago in the territory of the Tsarevo municipality it was the same. In a short time, an extremely large amount of rain fell, which caused a wave of over two meters, which took the lives of several people," the Regional Governor recalled. Such cataclysms remind us of the power of nature and the need for a quick response.

The feedback on the authorities' reaction is mixed. The Regional Governor thanks the fire department, the military, the Ministry of Interior, the gendarmerie, and the Municipality for their adequate reaction. At the same time, he mourns the lost human lives. "I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. Unfortunately, we have three people whose lives were taken by the water," he said.

In connection with the tragic events, an investigation will be launched in connection with information received about possible construction in ravines. "All operational measures will be carried out. The media will be informed," the Regional Governor emphasized. Time will tell what are the real causes of this unprecedented disaster.
