Prosecutors say M.D. made tobacco products under various brands to sell without the required licence. He is charged under Article 234, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code for the period from an unknown date until 28 October 2026.
Investigators found machines, equipment and materials for a full, closed production cycle in the hall: filters, box blanks, glue and packaging film.
The warehouses held 12 tonnes of tobacco and finished cigarettes with the logos of well-known brands.
Prosecutors have asked the Karnobat District Court to order the defendant held in pre-trial detention. A panel of judges will hear the request today.
