A majestic monument in the heart of Poland
In the Polish village of Konotopie, near Toruń, the tallest statue of the Virgin Mary in Europe was officially consecrated. The impressive monument rises to a total height of 55 meters, with the figure itself measuring 40.6 meters and the crown-shaped pedestal adding another 15 meters.
The statue was erected out of gratitude to the Virgin Mary, shares donor Roman Karkosik.
Who is behind the project?
The funding is entirely private and was provided by 75-year-old businessman Roman Karkosik, one of the most influential investors in Poland. According to data from the architectural portal Architektura Murator, the value of the project is estimated at nearly 23 million euros.
