The councilors in the Municipality of Tsarevo honored the memory of the victims of the tragic flood that took four human lives and caused large-scale destruction in the area two years ago. The 25th regular meeting of the Municipal Council began with a minute of silence, recalling the events of September 5, 2023. During the meeting, key decisions were made to restore the infrastructure and support local development.

The Tragedy of September 5, 2023

The disaster, caused by torrential rains, hit the coastal city and its surroundings with merciless force. The water apocalypse submerged streets, destroyed bridges and dams, and swept away not only property but also human lives. Among the deceased were the chairwoman of the District Court in Tsarevo, Maria Moskova, and her daughter, veterinarian Dr. Daniela Yordanova. The tragedy also took the lives of two other men. Roads throughout the municipality, port infrastructure, and fishing boats were destroyed, and the household belongings and property of dozens of residents were irrevocably washed away.

During the meeting, which was held against the backdrop of these grim memories, the councilors adopted a number of important decisions aimed at restoring the affected areas and their long-term development. Among the approved measures is the improvement and modernization of the Michurin Port in the city of Tsarevo, which suffered serious damage.

The education sector also received significant support. The Municipal Council approved the allocation of funds to provide equipment for modern STEM classrooms in the school in the city of Ahtopol, which is an important step towards improving the quality of education in the region.

Decisions for Recovery and Development

Special attention was paid to the restoration of vital infrastructure. A decision was made for the gratuitous transfer of ownership of state properties, including the "Poturnashki" dam, which will facilitate its maintenance and management. In addition, a permit was issued for the use of a water body in connection with urgent emergency and recovery activities on bridge structures in the "Beliat Bryag" neighborhood, where the destruction is severe.

The decisions made show the local government's commitment to dealing with the consequences of the disaster and ensuring a more sustainable future for the residents of the municipality. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of seriousness and purposefulness, reflecting the urgency of the tasks set by the tragic events of two years ago.
