Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation and Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water - Burgas invite you to the awarding of the student competition "The Wisdom of Wetlands", dedicated to World Wetlands Day - February 2, and to the cultural and natural value of the Burgas lakes.
In the 5 categories of the competition, 80 students from 16 schools from the entire region participated with 75 works, including 7 interviews with adult relatives, salt workers, ornithologists, scientists; 8 essays / short story; 42 drawings or illustrations, 14 photographs and 5 videos.
The jury reviewed and evaluated the competition works and invited all participants and their teachers on February 27, 2026 (Friday) at 11.00 a.m. at the Bird Watching Shelter, to present its decision and the student works themselves (original drawings, photographs, essays, interviews) through an improvised outdoor exhibition. The awarded works will be published on our website
The awarding and the exhibition are organized by the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation and the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water - Burgas. Treats for all participants - waffles and cupcakes were provided by "Pobeda" AD.
All guests will have the opportunity to walk along the Sableklyun Trail and observe the winter inhabitants of Atanasovsko Lake - flamingos, ducks, white pelicans, sabre-billed gulls, etc.
