The caretaker prime minister should be as far removed as possible from the influence of Peevski, said the co-chair of the parliamentary group of “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria“ (WCC-DB) Nadezhda Yordanova to journalists before the meeting of the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs in the parliament.
Earlier today, the Speaker of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan arrived at “Dondukov“ 2 for a meeting with President Iliana Yotova within the framework of the constitutional procedure for appointing a caretaker government.
Nadezhda Yordanova highlighted two elements that, in her words, are important when choosing a caretaker government. Firstly, President Yotova should hold consultations with the parties represented in parliament, as provided for in the Constitution, but this should be an in-depth, detailed process, and not a formal meeting, she pointed out. Secondly – the caretaker prime minister should be as far removed as possible from the influence of Peevski and propose a working caretaker cabinet, Yordanova added. From then on, it is entirely within the powers of President Yotova to make her choice, she noted.
Asked whether the current or the next National Assembly should ratify Bulgaria's accession to the Trump Peace Council, Nadezhda Yordanova reiterated the WCC-DB's thesis that before ratification, this document should be assessed by the Constitutional Court, to what extent it complies with the Constitution, because very serious questions arise regarding the goals, scope, and way of managing the so-called Peace Board. We see that the government is "backing down," she commented.
