Annual energy consumption in the renovated buildings is expected to drop by approximately 366 million kWh, ensuring at least 30 percent primary energy savings for each site. These investments will also yield environmental benefits, manifesting in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by over 78,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The press office of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) emphasizes that energy renovation optimizes operating and consumption costs, while simultaneously supporting more efficient public spending and ensuring a cleaner environment.

The large-scale program encompasses more than 560 non-residential buildings across the country, renovated through funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). The total renovated area amounts to over 1.770 million square meters. The allocation of nearly 346 million euros was implemented through two key procedures: "Support for sustainable energy renovation of public building stock for administrative services, culture, and sport" and "Support for energy renovation of buildings in the sectors of manufacturing, trade, and services." Of the total volume of renovated area, just over 1 million square meters belong to business infrastructure.

The 340 renovated sites directed at the state and municipal sectors include:

Special attention has been paid to cultural heritage, with nearly 37 percent of these buildings being community centers, theaters, museums, galleries, and concert halls, many of which had not been renovated in the last few decades. In parallel, over 230 private business sites were renovated, including warehouses, enterprises, hotels, retail outlets, and service centers, improving their operational qualities and energy efficiency.

The renovated public and business buildings under the program improve the environment and energy costs for the residents of Burgas and the region who utilize these services.

The construction and installation activities go beyond standard building renovation. They include roof waterproofing, thermal insulation installation, window replacement, interior modernization, and the construction of energy-efficient systems. An adapted environment for people with disabilities has been provided, sanitary facilities have been repaired, and the space around the buildings has been improved. Media outlets remind that back in early September, the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) confirmed that it had completed the contracting of NRRP projects aimed at the energy renovation of multi-family residential buildings on time.
