More than 4,000 pairs of sports shoes and numerous other items bearing the logos of world-famous brands were seized by officers from the Cybercrime Directorate at the GDBOP (General Directorate Combating Organized Crime). The police operation took place on September 4, 2026, at retail outlets along the Southern Black Sea coast.
Investigators discovered the counterfeit goods while inspecting shops and their associated warehouses in resort towns. The products were seized under urgent circumstances, and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated against the offenders under Article 172b of the Penal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
We remind you that in a previous operation in the city of Varna, law enforcement authorities halted the illegal sale of nearly 7,000 accessories, including sunglasses and prescription glasses, offered without the consent of the trademark holders. A pre-trial proceeding has also been initiated in that case.
