Military appeals prosecutors have charged a National Protection Service (NSO) officer with causing moderate bodily harm to journalist Sonya Koltukliyeva outside the Progressive Bulgaria headquarters in Sofia. Prosecutors said he is being held for 72 hours.
Koltukliyeva was trying to ask parliament speaker Mihaela Dotsova a question when a guard knocked her to the ground.

Prosecutors will ask a court to order the officer held in custody. The charge came after questioning and other investigative steps. So far, investigators have questioned the victim and some of the witnesses.
The case drew a strong public and political reaction. President Iliana Iotova called for the resignation of NSO chief Maj Gen Emil Tonev, and he later handed it in.
Prosecutors said they want to establish all the circumstances and the exact order of events. Investigators will question more people who have information about the case, gather new evidence, review the available video footage and order the expert reports they need.
